Since July 2006 on Belle-Ile-en-Mer, the Citadelle Vauban is France's first hotel-museum. Overlooking the Port du Palais and the sea, the citadel is the symbol of 1000 years of Belle-Ile-en-Mer's history. Founded in the middle ages and redesigned by Vauban in 1683, after 40 years of restoration.
